Dear Chris & Jo,
Having finally managed to put pen to paper, we are writing to thank you all for the wonderful experience of staying at the Seymour Arms. The food, accommodation and the friendliness throughout our stay was exceptional. John is still raving about the fish and chips and the morning breakfasts were incredible.
The weather may not have been brilliant, but the fishing, especially at Blagdon more than made up for that. We all caught, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves throughout our stay. Hiroshi had his best day ever on the Sunday and we really could not have asked for more.
On our weekend away next year, we will strongly recommend that we come back to you, hopefully with more members of our club. The price of the rooms and the fishing was very affordable and well worth the money. All being well, we will see you next year and we are forwarding a copy of this letter to Bristol Waters fishing in recognition of your superb hospitality.
With sincerest thanks and kind regards.

What a pleasant surprise this place was.
Decided to go out for a bite on Sunday, Starting at a pub fairly
close, we gradually moved further afield as each pub was either fully
booked/finished serving/closed down
Finally arrived at the Seymour Arms and what a great pub! It’s one
of those traditional English pubs that you don’t get any more. Trouble
is, you don’t realise they’ve been gradually disappearing until you find
one and step inside.
They serve a Carvery on Sundays and it was brilliant. Excellent
“proper” food, and good portions. The staff and locals were all friendly
and we had a great time talking. We were made very welcome; well, we’re
certainly going back.

I'd like to say a big thanks to Chris, Jo and Holly for the warm hospitality shown towards me during my stay. The pub had a warm feel to it and the locals were extremely friendly. The local table skittles expert, (Colin), showed me how to play the game, properly, and after one or two many drinks the night before, the fantastic morning breakfast, set me up for the day. I would highly recommend!! Col.

Thank you both very much for all your help organising the motors and boats last weekend. Alan thoroughly enjoyed himself (even if the fish were sulking!). We will definitely be back – hopefully sometime later in the year as a celebration for Alan finishing his job!!
Many thanks again

Dear All at the Seymour Arms,
Sorry this is rather belated but I just wanted to send a huge “thank you” from the Crowther family. When we arrived at the pub a few Saturday’s ago , in the rain, having pushed our bikes up the hill, you made us so welcome and saved the day! Thank you for your kindness and hospitality: games, hot chocolate, chips and a lift back to the camp site for Grandad, all very much appreciated. The kids so enjoyed their night at the Seymour Arms!
Hi Jo,
Would you be so kind as to pass on my sincerest thanks to Chris for giving up his Saturday afternoon to sit in the boat with us and give us the benefit of his vast experience. It really is a pleasure to learn from him and please promise him that I will fish with longer leaders (where appropriate) from now on!
Also many thanks to you for giving him the afternoon off!
Hope to see you both in the very near future and in the meantime I hope you both have a profitable summer season at the Seymour Arms.
Regards.
— Mike Hoare
Hi Jo and Chris.
Hope you are both well. Just a few lines to say thank you both for your warm reception when we arrived for our annual visit. Once again you continued with your normal high standard, excellent accomodation, clean towels every day with fresh smellies. We also liked the new menu good homebased recipes like our mothers used to make,
Peraphs as something a little different you could get Chris to sort out some traditional Germany Dishes.
Once again thank you for a good break among very nice people, all the best to you both and to your staff,
Kind Regards
— Roy and Barrie
Jo & Chris,
A very, very, belated huge thank you for looking after us during our annual sojourn to Chew & Blagdon.
The accommodation & food were first class, & Chris’s superb advice on tackling Blagdon on an “impossible” day resulted in us catching & returning 30+ diawl bach & buzzer caught fish.
See you next year.
Cheers.
— Ian Colclough & Terry Gosling
Hi,
Many thanks to you all for making it a great weekend.
A good time was had by all – even though some of us were catchless!
The breakfasts were impressive, the ales were superb and the steaks were done to perfection – couldn’t have asked for better. Please pass on my thanks to Chris for helping make it all go smoothly.
Must organise a re-match - - of the bar skittles at least!
Best Regards.
— Harry
Hi Jo,
Just thought I would drop you a line to thank you for last weekend, everyone enjoyed the trip to Blagdon and Chew and for those who stayed over will definitely be back next time.
Yourself and Chris made us all very welcome and facilities were great, who would have thought we would need the drying room in August!
Fishing was better on Chew with most of us catching a couple each.
thanks again and will be back next year.
Kind regards
— John Hern, Kennick Fly Fishers Secretary
I Live in Blagdon and use it on a regular basis the reviews on this site are years out of date. It is under new management now for about three years and the food is excellent, they operate a carvery on a sunday which is very well supported by locals and visitors alike, they have a selection of real ales and cider and premiun lager and guinness. The B&B is well supported by fishermen as the Pub is located right in Blagdon near the lake.
